E-Ride is MTA’s new volunteer driver rideshare program, which serves as non-emergency transportation assistance for Mendocino County residents living in outlying areas who do not have access to a reliable, consistent form of transportation to Willits or Ukiah and its connections beyond. The E-Ride program has been designed to offer a simple, safe connection between prospective passengers and a pool of approved volunteer drivers. E-Ride provides professional dispatch and ride-scheduling services, a screening process for both prospective E-ride drivers and passengers, and limited reimbursement in the form of vouchers to offset the volunteer drivers’ fuel costs. The idea is that this reimbursement will encourage people who are regularly driving to town anyway to reach out and help one or two of their neighbors occasionally. One of the goals of the program is to encourage ride sharing among multiple passengers to lessen the cost of the ride even more, both to the passengers and to the driver.
If you are interested in this program and can help us recruit volunteer drivers or know of someone in your community who could use the service, or if you would simply like more information, please contact Carla Meyer General Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (707) 234-6446.
