MTA Adds New Stops at Ukiah Hospital & Todd Grove Park

Mendocino Transit Authority has expanded its bus service to include Ukiah Valley Adventist Health hospital and Todd Grove Park.

Mendocino Transit Authority has established a new bus stop at Ukiah Valley Adventist Hospital.

Each north and southbound Ukiah #9 bus now stops at the hospital hourly Monday through Saturday, and at Todd Grove Park hourly on Saturday.  MTA’s new mobile phone app, RouteShout2.0, can be downloaded for free access to real-time bus schedules and arrival information.

“Frankly, hospital service is something that customers have asked for—and MTA has wanted to provide—for a long time,” said MTA General Manager Carla Meyer.  “We couldn’t turn a bus onto Hospital Drive from busy Perkins Street, so we reconfigured the route to come in the back way from Clara Avenue.”

The bus stop is at 260 Hospital Drive between the hospital’s main entrance on one side of the street and Myers Medical Pharmacy on the other. Bus service to UVAH runs Monday through Friday from 7:18 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday from approximately 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Saturday Family Time at Todd Grove Park

The Saturday #9 MTA bus stops at Todd Grove Park throughout the day between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Saturday local #9 bus service to Todd Grove Park in west Ukiah provides families with access to two pools, children’s play areas, and picnic facilities in a large historic park shaded by heirloom trees. A golf course is next to the park.

“Especially on summer weekends when families have some down-time, it’s nice to have bus service at Todd Grove so that anyone can ride to the park and back in air-conditioned comfort,” said Jacob King, MTA operations manager and coordinator of the new route stops with support from the City of Ukiah.

Each north and southbound Saturday bus stops and picks up hourly between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Todd Grove Park front gate at Grove Street and the city pools.  A formal MTA bus stop and sign will be added to the restricted parking area at the pool entrance.

Meyer and King both credited the MTA Board of Directors for spearheading the new route stops.

“The board carefully considers public comment and ‘unmet needs’ of transit customers and supported these route changes and others that are in the works,” said Meyer.
